I’m just going to start from the beginning so I don’t miss anything.

Intervals are the basic components of scales. They are pairs of notes certain distances apart.

half-steps = unison
half-step = minor second
half-steps = major second
half-steps = minor third
half-steps = major third
half-steps = perfect fourth
half-steps = tritone (#4th/b5th)
half-steps = perfect fifth
half-steps = minor sixth
half-steps = major sixth
half-steps = minor seventh
half-steps = major seventh
half-steps = octave
